Mac users will have to set up their new configurations manually. Please read the directions following your new number listing. It is reccommended that you print out these directions so that you can refer to them as you work.
NOTE: If you have a 56K Modem that was purchased before December 1998, you probably do not have the lastest driver installed. If you experience no connection problems, then do nothing. However, if you find you are being disconnected randomly, or are experiencing "dead connections" (connected, but no data is being sent) you need to upgrade your driver. Check out http://www.56k.com for a driver that matches your modem.

56K Directions for MAC Users
- Click the Apple in the upper left corner of the screen.
- In the Apple Menu click Control Panel
- If you see both FreePPP and PPP
in the Control Panel section, follow both sets of directions below
- If you see only FreePPP in the Control Panel,
follow only the FreePPP Directions
- If you see only PPP in the Control Panel,
follow only the PPP Directions below
FreePPP Directions
- Click on FreePPP Setup
Under the version number on the left hand side, click the little
triangle if it is pointing to the right; this will drop down the FreePPP Setup Menu
Under General tab, make sure that the only thing that has
an "X" is "Allow applications to open connection.
Click the Accounts tab; Click the Connect file;
Click Edit
In the phone number box, type YOUR NEW DIAL-UP NUMBER; find this
number in the chart above
You do not need to re-enter your name and password
Click OK at the bottom
Your system is now ready to dial our new connection number for you/li>
PPP Directions
- Click on PPP Setup
- In the phone number box, type the new dialup number, located in the chart above
- You do not need to re-enter your name and password
- Close all windows by clicking OK or a similar button.
- Save your changes by choosing Configurations in the File Menu
- Your system is now ready to dial your new connection number
