If you want to automatically configure your system to use a new dial-up number, simply click the Upgrade button beside your location/current dial-up.  Click "Open" and then click OK in all dialog boxes that appear.

If you would rather setup your computer yourself, please read the directions below. It is reccommended that you print out these directions so that you can refer to them as you work.

NOTE: After changing your dialup number, if you are using Outlook or Microsoft Internet Mail, you will need to make a change to your setting to be able to send mail. The fix follows at the end of this page.

56K Switchover for WIN95/98

  1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop
  2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking folder
  3. Right-click on the Connect icon to see the small list of menus pop up
  4. On the pop-up menu, left-click once on Properties
  5. Make sure you are on the General tab of this properties dialog box
  6. In the telephone number box, delete the old phone number and enter the new number for your area, located in the chart above.
  7. Make sure no check is in the box that says: "Use country code and area code" if there is a check, click the check to remove it.
  8. Click OK
  9. Close both your Dial-Up Networking box and My Computer box
  10. To setup your Outlook mail account to use the new dialup configuration.

    • From the TOOLS Menu, choose Accounts (or Services)
    • Pick your Mail Account, choose Properties
    • Click Connections, find the option "Use Internet Explorer or a 3rd Party Dialer"
    • Make sure that is Checked, restart Outlook.

  11. Your system is now ready to dial the new number!
