Connecting with AOL 4

You must sign onto Connect before you attempt to sign onto AOL. This allow you to enter AOL's system through the Internet, instead of dialing an AOL access number. You can continue to use the Internet while connected to AOL, however, as AOL content will be consuming most of your bandwidth, Regular Internet traffic may perform somewhat slower than normal.

How To Change Connection Setup To Connect Via TCP/IP:

  1. Sign off America Online.
  2. On the Sign On screen, click Setup.
  3. Click Edit Location.
  4. In the Network list box, click TCP/IP.
  5. Click Save.

After you've changed your AOL setup, you can now sign onto America Online. (Make sure you are still connected to Connect!) Enter your password or sign on as your normally do. If you hear the modem dial after you click the Sign On button in AOL, you are not connecting via TCP/IP. Make sure the Network box says TCP/IP in your setup, reboot the computer, and try again.
