Dial-Up Networking

  1. Double click My Computer on the desktop to open it.
  2. Double Click Control Panel (if you don’t see control panel, use the scroll bars to make sure it is visible and try selecting View - Arrange - Auto Arrange from the file menu).
  3. Double Click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click the Windows Setup tab. This presents a series of software categories such as accessories, Microsoft Network, etc. You can highlight any category and examine the specific programs within it by clicking the details button.
  5. Highlight Communications and select the details button.
  6. Make sure there is a checkmark beside Dial-Up Networking. If there is not, click inside the box to select it for installation.
  7. After this is done, choose OK twice to return to Control Panel, then close the Control Panel.

Network Settings

  1. Double-Click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  2. Double-Click the Control Panel folder.
  3. Double-Click the Network Icon.
  4. Under The following network components are installed, double-Click TCP/IP.
  1. Click DNS Configuration.
  2. Choose Disable DNS.
  1. Click OK. Click OK again. If a window appears telling you to restart your computer, click Yes.

Connecting to Connect.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Internet Explorer.
  4. Click Connection Wizard.
  5. Choose " Ihave an existing Internet account through my phone line or local area network (LAN). Help me set up my computer to connect to this account"
  6. Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet Service Provider or local area network (LAN).
  7. Choose connect using my phone line.
  8. If you see "Select Modem" , select next.
  9. Select create a new dial-up account.
  10. Enter the Phone number with area code:

Connect Dialups
  1. Enter your username and password in lower case letters
  2. "Do you want to change advanced settings?" Choose No
  3. For dialup connection name type "Connect".
  4. Do you want to set up Internet Mail account now, Choose No.

E-Mail

Connect has an easy way for you to check your email - without learning new complicated software! It's called Web.Mail - The Web address is http://mail.conninc.com.

Follow these simple instructions to access your mail account:

  1. Open your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and connect to the Internet.
  2. Highlight and delete the address currently shown in the browser's "address" window.
  3. Carefully type the following into the "address" window:

    4. http://mail.conninc.com

  4. Hit the "enter" key on your keyboard and the Emurl page will appear.
  5. Enter the first part of your email address into the login name blank (everything before the @ sign), and enter your email password into the password blank.
  6. Click "enter" on the screen
  7. You will then see buttons to "Check Mail" and "Compose"

TIP! Save the email address in your favorites list or make it your start page.
